Mohammad K. Shiyyab
General Shiyyab is a former Deputy Commander, Royal Jordanian Air Force. Since retirement, General Shiyyab has been serving as a Security Advisor in Majlis El Hassan. Under the guidance and kind instruction of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan Bin Talal, General Shiyyab founded and directed the Department for Disarmament & Security Studies (1993-2002), where the main focus was on issues relating to the Arab-Israeli Peace Process, regional security, weapons proliferation, regional confidence and security building measures, NATO and the Euro- Mediterranean security dialogue, and conflict prevention and resolution. Currently, General Shiyyab is the Director General of the Cooperative Monitoring Center-Amman (CMC-A), which he co-founded in collaboration with the US Department of Energy in 2002. CMC-A main focus areas are: Non-proliferation and arms control, border security, strategic trade controls, pubic health and environmental security issues. On September 2009, General Shiyyab was appointed as the Chairman of the Board for the (Jordanian) Regional Human Security Center (RHSC), where the focus is on advancing the human security agenda through applied research, training, and the facilitation of dialogue and practical policy recommendations relevant to the broader Middle East region (West Asia and North Africa). The RHSC collaborates closely with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
