A German and Swedish national, Lara holds two Bachelor degrees in European Studies (both with honors) and a Masters degree in International Peace and Security from King's College London. She is now Programme Assistant at the Brussels office of Independent Diplomat, a non-profit diplomatic advisory group in the world of diplomacy. Previous work experiences include The Hague Conference on Private International Law in The Hague, The German Belgian Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Brussels and the German Embassy in Prague. Her areas of interest are the Middle East with more in-depth focus on Egypt and its neighbours (the topic of her Master thesis was on whether or not Egypt has the potential of becoming the main mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, thus replacing the US). German native speaking, Lara is fluent in Swedish and English, has a fair knowledge of Dutch, French and Spanish and is looking forward to continuing her introductory course in Arabic soon.
