Babak Khalatbari was a scholar of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation and Kuwait University: He has studied Political, Islamic and Sport Science, Arabic, Farsi and Sociology at the University of Münster, University of Cologne and Kuwait University. Also he was a visiting scholar at the Austrian Institute for Security Policy (ÖIES). He finished his PhD thesis about Future Scenarios in the MENA region at the Institute of Political Science of the University of Münster in October 2004. At the moment he serves as a head of mission of a German NGO in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Among his recent publications are several articles about security policy, a large number of country reports written for the Duesseldorf Institute for Foreign and Security Policy (DIAS) and one book, entitled Der Nahe Osten, Nordafrika und die EU im 21ten Jahrhundert. Die euro-mediterrane Partnerschaft zwischen Anspruch und Wirklichkeit, DUV 2004.
