Fata issue to dominate US presidential elections: Sheikh Rashid

PESHAWAR: Chief of the Awami Muslim League and former federal minister for information and broadcasting Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has said the Fata issue will dominate the upcoming US elections.
Talking to reporters at Bilour House on Saturday after condoling with Federal Minister Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour over the demise of his mother, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said both presidential hopefuls of the US were focusing on the emerging security situation in the tribal regions bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan in their election campaign. He predicted that the government to be established in the US after President Bush would be more dangerous for this region.
In reply to a question, the former minister said the present government should change its policy as negotiations with the local Taliban, along with operations, were not going to work. He also said the government should make policies in accordance with the ground realities and in the larger interests of the country.
