That makes five in the past two weeks, in Germany alone. The suitcase exploded on Wednesday, prompting fears of another attack, however that was quickly dismissed.
“Up to now, there is no evidence that the suitcase was detonated by explosives,” a police statement said. “At no point were any people in danger.”
The suitcase apparently contained an aerosol can that exploded, but the owners of the case were not in the area.
The latest explosion happened in the town of Zirndorf, not far from Wurzburg, the location of the train attack last week.

The location of the suitcase shows how high tensions are in Germany after a string of attacks by migrants from the Middle East
- On Sunday, a 27 year old migrant from Syria blew himself up outside a bar in Bavaria, injuring 12 people in an attack linked to ISIS.
- That same day, a 21 year-old machete-wielding Syrian killed a pregnant woman in a small town neat Stuttgart.
- Last Friday, a German-Iranian went on a shooting rampage killing 9 people in a Munich Shopping Center.
- Last Monday, a 17 year old migrant from Afghanistan went on a rampage on a train in Wurzburg, seriously injuring four people.
The police are searching for a 30 year old man and a 25 year old woman in connection with the exploding suitcase.
At this point, we cannot be surprised by the ISIS attacks in Europe. Members of the Intelligence community, namely Dr. Hans-Georg Maaßen, the head of the BfV (the domestic intelligence agency for Germany) held a symposium on ISIS threat in March 2016 in Berlin that detailed the threats in Europe. The experts all agreed that ISIS would look towards younger people to carry out attacks. There it was told that many children are trained as fanatic indoctrinated suicide-bombers by ISIS now as well.
